Elder Todd Glad Doing Great

Dear Family,
Between all of you I think i've talked a lot about how I'm doing and stuff like that.  Some experiences that I've been having, well this week we helped this guy take down a fence in his yard.  We also taught a lesson with him, one of the most powerful lessons that I've taught yet.  Another day we went out to Prague and helped the people get a horse corrall and I tried to ride a mule bare back but it didn't really work very much.  Then we helped them put it up back here in Shawnee.  Also there was this one family that called the church when we were there and we went out and taught them, oh my gosh I really shouldn't talk bad about people but, she said that when her daughter was 13 she was raped by her cousin.  She was pregnant but she lost the baby, and now she's 15 and pregnant again with her 21 or 22 year old boyfriends baby.  I was just blown away by that, I thought that was just a my about people out here inbreeding and stuff but there you go.  And apparently the legal age for that kind of stuff out here is 14, really stupid but anyways.  The other night we went to this one family's house that is going through the temple like this week, they showed us there pet ducks and I got a picture of one of there chickens on my shoulder but yeah its just been a crazy week with all that stuff and the earthquakes and everything just keeping us busy.  Well I'd better go but I love you all and I'll be writing with more detail this week in a letter.  But you guys should write me as well that would be cool.  I haven't gotten anything since I've been in Oklahoma so you guys are slacking.  Just kidding.  Love you all
Sincerely,
Elder Glad the second

Elder Todd Glad doing great

Dear Family,
Oklahoma is awesome, I know I was born in Utah but I was made for Oklahoma.  We're in a place right now called Shawnee, its a small town south east of Oklahoma City.  There are a whole lot of trees and the weather is phenomonal.  We have to wear suit coats if it gets above 60 degrees and we've only had to wear suit coats like once this week.  My companions name is Elder Karl and he's from Alberta Canada.  He's so awesome I don't even know.  He's been out for 9 months and I'm his second son (second trainee).  They say that he is the best in the mission field which is awesome.  He's really layed back which is good but we still work a lot.  We have 2 solid baptism dates for the 12th of November, we had 4 when I got out here but one of them dropped us and the other is in Utah till tomorrow, so we'll have to teach him when he gets back and we'll probably have to bump it back.  That first day that I got here we just went out teaching a lot of in active members.  Which is ok I guess, I'd just rather teach investigators, but there are a lot of inactive members out here.  Elder Karl says that if everyone that is a member out here went to church then the Shawnee Ward would be a stake.  So we're trying to work with them.  We've gotten 4 new investigators since I've been here, and that has just been through our own efforts.  One of the guys was just walking down the street and we stopped and talked to him, he said that his mom just died and that he was looking for a church.  Another is just this guy that said that he wanted to find out about different churches, and then there was this Southern Baptist that we spent probably about a half an hour or so yesterday talking to and we're probably going to teach him.  Then there was this hispanic guy that we talked to that knew very little english but Elder Karl's dad or my grandad, is a spanish speaking Elder, his name is Elder Frampton, and he's an AP now but anyways he taught Elder Karl a couple of things so we found out that he has a book of Mormon and that he reads it like every morning and there is the guy in the Ward that speaks Spanish so we called him and this guy is going to be at church on Sunday and he was very very excited.  Which is really cool.  Also Elder Haskell the Elder that got home sick in the MTC actually came out which is way cool.  Elder Karl's Spirit Brother is training him so that is awesome.  Yesterday at chuch is was really cool, it was this guys named Dakota's farewell and he's going to Carlsbad California Spanish Speaking, Just like Colby Anderson, so I told him to look him up.  Its really a cool story though because Dakota just got baptized like a year or maybe a little more than that ago.  Now he's going on a mission and he's the only member in his family.  Just a really neat story.  Well nothing else really has happened just keep praying for our success.  Oh yeah and by the way they call Shawnee the Promised Land because of all the baptisms so hopefully we can keep that up.  Mom I went and got myself some sheets with some cash that I had so don't worry about that.  The sunsets here are the most beautiful that you have ever seen I love them so much I'm going to have to get a picture of one.  We are riding our bikes a lot which is a good thing.  When I fist got to the mission home I went out with Elder Soto and Elder Forsyth and Elder Forsyth has sense gone home so that was his last day in the mission field but anyways he gave me some words of wisdom.  He said to never sacrifice personal study, and to bike more than drive.  So thats what we've been doing and it been great.  416 SW 79th Street Oklahoma City Oklahoma 73139 is the address of the mission home so go nuts with that.  tell everybody to write me please.  Well thats really all that I have for today you guys have a good one. Love you all and remember that the church is true and that Jesus is our Savior and that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today.  Love you all
Sincerely,
Elder Glad, the Second
